Following on from the sessions in Sudbury, Huntsville, Ottawa and Kingston, MWA presents two more sessions - in London and Barrie.
Two more working sessions (January 31 and February 2) seekto address this issue of Best Practicies. Anyone who has completed the Annual Municipal Datacall, will note Waste Diversion Ontario (WDO) has identified a number of Best Practices for municipal blue box recycling programs, and is placing increasing importance on them as a funding criterion.
With funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the MWA, again assisted by Genivar, is organizing these working sessions with two mandates. The first is to provide an opportunity for municipalities to respond to WDO with concerns and suggestions that would make the Municipal Datacall “Best Practices” questions more useful and fair. The second is to teach municipalities how to answer the Best Practices questions so they can maximize their funding.

All four major Ontario parties have now responded to our questions
We've had some excellent feedback from our delegates about the political panel at the MWA Spring Workshop but a lot of them also expressed disappointment about not having more time for questions.
So we wrote to the minister's office and to the offices of Toby Barrett, Michael Prue and Mike Schreiner, asking them if they could answer up to five questions from our members as a follow-up.
In the end, four questions were sent to our panelists, three for all of them, one for the minister.
Here are the questions and the responses.July 05, 2011
